Pomodo is a Pomodoro timer with mixable ambient sound
Above this text is the focus room: a Pomodoro timer running against a background you build yourself out of sixteen ambient sounds. Layer rain under a fireplace, put a café behind a fan, or run one loop on its own — each sound has its own volume, and the whole mix sits under one master control.
It is free, and the timer does not ask you to sign in. Scroll back up, press play, and the session starts. An account exists for saving mixes and keeping session history across devices, and nothing else is behind it.
How the Pomodoro technique works
The technique splits work into fixed rounds. You choose one thing to work on, start a 25-minute timer, and stop when it ends. Then you take a short break — five minutes by default — and start the next round. After four rounds you take a longer break of fifteen minutes.
Pomodo runs that cycle for you. The pills above the timer show which part of the cycle you are in — Focus, Short break, Long break — and the markers under the timer count the rounds you have finished so far. All four numbers are adjustable in Settings if 25 and 5 are not the lengths you want.
The sounds
Sixteen sounds ship with Pomodo, and any number of them can play at once.
13 of them are recorded loops, streamed from the site and then cached by your browser: Rain, Thunder, Wind, Forest, Leaves, Stream, Waves, Drip, Fireplace, Night, Cafe, Train and Fan.
The remaining 3 — White, Pink and Brown — are noise generated in the browser as it plays. There is no file to download for those, so they start instantly and run for as long as you leave them on.

Frequently asked questions
Is Pomodo free?
Yes. The timer, all sixteen sounds and the mixer are free to use, and there is no checkout anywhere in the app — nothing asks for a card.
Do I need an account to use the timer?
No. The timer and every sound work signed out. An account only adds saved sound mixes, session history and syncing between devices; the focus room itself never asks you to sign in.
Can I use Pomodo offline?
Mostly. Pomodo registers a service worker on your first visit, which stores the app itself and the sound files your browser has already downloaded, so a later visit can open without a connection. A sound you have never played still needs the network the first time.
Can I play more than one sound at once?
Yes. Any combination of the sixteen sounds can play together, each with its own volume, underneath a single master volume. The built-in presets are simply combinations that are already set up for you.
Does the timer keep running in a background tab?
Yes. The countdown is worked out from the moment the session ends rather than by counting ticks, so a tab that the browser throttles or backgrounds does not fall behind. Come back to it and the remaining time is still correct.
Can I change the 25-minute length?
Yes. Open Settings in the focus room and set your own focus, short break and long break lengths, along with how many rounds come before a long break. The defaults are 25, 5 and 15 minutes with a long break every four rounds, and the settings work signed out too.
